Water Treatment plant for NUNGUA SHS. Commissioned to avert water Crisis- Ahotor News
The 1987 Year group of the Old Students Association’s wing of the Nungua Senior High School (SHS) have provided a Ghc40,000 modern -water Treatment Plant which is meant to permanently improvised for the epileptic water supply which have bedeviled the School over decades now.
Addressing dignitaries as well as staffs and the student’s body of the school,
The headmistress Mrs. Cecilia A. Boateng expressed delight on such an auspicious and memorable occasion, on the commissioning of the water treatment plant in the school.
She noted whilst delivering a brief speech that, the mounting of such a hybridized water plant was an earlier appeal the management of the school made to1987 year group of the Old Students Association (NOSA’ 87).
She revealed that, the provision of the treatment plant was long overdue to ameliorate the erratic water situation on the school’s campus.
And further retorted by saying that “Today am pleased to inform you that this water Treatment Plant has been provided by the said year group in collaboration with the school management”
In paying glowing tribute she eulogized the founder of the school, Nii Quaye Tawiah of eternity under who’s tutelage the school had a population of five (5) in 1958 but has ballooned to a current record heights of about 1, 677 presently.
Relating other extraneous interventions by the Old Students of the school, she revealed that, the NOSA has constantly kept in touch with the school by aiding them in diverse ways. Ranging from mass infrastructure among a host of others, and compliment their tireless efforts with an unflinching recognition.
Having taken over the school in January 2015 with the tacit assistance from and cooperation of her Assistant Heads and Staffs’
The headmistress madam Cecilia Boateng, of NUSEC, has implemented visible policies and enhanced teaching strategies in a blueprint dubbed “Five – Year Strategic Development Plan through a gestational period from 2016- 2020 respectively.
She chronicled the thesis as a policy document which is targeted to create a congenial environment to improve students’ life; foster student focused learning, as well as improving physical infrastructure and services to buttressed teaching and academic work.
The astute and experienced headmistress further gave accounts of multi sactorial infrastructural provisions as being a radical intervention which were rolled out to augment the physical needs of the school.
And it includes; the provisions of sleek multi- purpose printers, standard air conditions, elevation of the wall around the school’s girl. Dormitory (which makes it difficult for unscrupulous persons to scale over), aeration for the boy’s dormitory, amongst others.
Mrs. Boateng also opined that the headmistress’ bungalow has been given a massive facelifts through the school’s scanty internally generated funds (IGF) and again remarked to the effects that, other notable focal renovations were also tackled to give extreme mileage to the school.
Like the “Proverbial Oliver Twist”. The calm but apt looking and-calculated headmistress of Nungua Senior High School, Mrs Cecilia Boateng implored the dignitaries and the various stakeholders made up of opinion leaders, and prominence invitees, to take a cue and continue with such a commendable gesture by the NOSA ’87 Year group, for the provision of an everlasting Water Treatment Plant for the school.
She stressed through a passionate appeal to the corridors of corporate institutions to come and assist the school by way of their communal social responsibilities.
On her part a board member of the Old Students Association, Mrs. Adjeley Nartey also expressed her profound gratitude and dept of appreciation to the 1987 year group for such a noble gesture and urged the student’s body to activate their maintenance culture in order to keep the plant into prolonged and efficient use.
On the sidesteps of the impending 60th-year anniversary celebration of the school, she implored her contemporary NOSA year groups to come and assist their alma mata with infrastructure, and E- learning equipments, since the school lacks critical facelift projects to deepen efficiency in learning.
Added to this reason, the contractor who doubles as the chief executive officer of Deep Water Technologies Ghana Limited, Mr. Nartey Daniels admonished and schooled the students to take good care of the Water Treatment Plant for emphasis of longevity.
He also assured them of his maximum cooperation and technical aptitude since the plant (equipment) covers a warranty agreement which spans over a specified period of time. If on the unlikely event the plant requires urgent troubleshooting in view of any sudden technical-glitch.
Meanwhile, the Water Treatment Plant is expected to provide ten thousand (10,000) gallons of portable water for commercial usage by the students in circumstances of shortage of water in and around the Teshie Nungua enclaves of the Greater Accra Region.
The students body, as well as the prefectural board of the Nungua Senior High School were full of joy and smiles and couldn’t hide their glee but to expressed heartfelt appreciation in meekness to the headmistress, staffs as well as the representatives of NOSA ’87 year group for such a philanthropic feet which was engineered through their benevolence to the student’s body and called on all and sandry to come to their aid.
