NDC to hit the street over US military base brouhaha – Koku Anyidoho

The opposition National Democratic Congress (NDC) is set to hit the streets over the controversial Ghana-US military agreement.

The demonstration, according to Deputy General Secretary of the party, Koku Anyidoho, is to protect the sovereignty of Ghana.

The ratification of the controversial Defense Corporation Agreement between Ghana and the United States of America (USA) has generated a lot of anger among citizens.

Critics including veteran soldiers in the US and the UK have warned that Ghana’s security could be compromised if the agreement is not properly scrutinized.

The agreement was passed although the Minority members staged a walkout amid fierce arguments.

Speaking on Adom FM’s Dwaso Nsem programme Monday, Koku Anyidoho said the Akufo-Addo led government has given them the opportunity to demonstrate.

He noted that the conduct of government is enough attestation that it is ready to mortgage Ghana for just $20million.

“We will give Akufo-Addo headache and running stomach so he should be ready. We will never allow him to sell Ghana’s sovereignty; God forbid”, Mr. Anyidoho said angrily.

The NDC Deputy General Secretary noted that they were committed, as an opposition, to protecting “the country handed over to us by our forefathers”.

Koku Anyidoho called on Ghanaians to join the NDC on Wednesday, March 28, 2018 for the massive demonstration in Accra.
