GFZA Reaffirms Commitment to Export-Led Industrialisation at 7th Ghana Investment and Trade Week

The Chief Executive Officer of the Ghana Free Zones Authority (GFZA) participated as Special Guest at the opening ceremony of the 7th Ghana Investment and Trade Week on Tuesday, 7 July 2026, at the Palms Convention Centre in Accra. He was accompanied by the Deputy Chief Executive Officer (Operations), Mr. Lateef Apau Wiredu, and the Deputy Chief Executive Officer (Finance & Administration), Mr. Hamidu Sibiri Musah. The three-day summit is being held from 7–9 July 2026.

Organised by Middle East International Exhibition Events (MIE Events) under the theme, “Powering Ghana’s 24-Hour Economy for Investment and Trade Competitiveness,” the summit brings together policymakers, investors, business executives, development partners, and exhibitors from across the globe to promote investment, strengthen cross-border trade, and advance infrastructure-driven dialogue in support of the Government’s 24-Hour Economy agenda.

In his welcome remarks, the Chairman of MIE Group, Mr. David Wang, highlighted the growing impact of the annual summit in connecting Ghanaian businesses with international investors. He noted that this year’s edition features more than 100 speakers, over 300 international delegates, exhibitors from more than 10 countries, and thousands of scheduled business-to-business engagements.

Addressing participants, the GFZA Chief Executive Officer commended the organisers for convening a high-level platform that promotes strategic dialogue and collaboration among policymakers, investors, industry leaders, and development partners. He observed that such engagements are essential for unlocking new investment opportunities, accelerating industrial growth, and driving sustainable economic development in Ghana and across Africa.

He stated that the summit’s theme reflects a collective commitment to building a resilient, productive, and globally competitive economy anchored on modern infrastructure, reliable energy, efficient logistics, and a vibrant private sector. He further emphasised that this vision aligns with the mandate of the Ghana Free Zones Authority to attract export-oriented investment, promote value addition, support industrialisation, and create sustainable employment opportunities for Ghanaians.

The Chief Executive Officer reaffirmed the Authority’s commitment to working closely with Government, investors, and development partners to position Ghana as the preferred destination for export-led industrialisation and to contribute meaningfully to the successful implementation of the Government’s 24-Hour Economy agenda.

Delivering the keynote address, the Presidential Advisor on the 24-Hour Economy, Hon. Augustus Goosie Tanoh (Esq.), underscored the need to transform Ghana’s economic structure by reducing dependence on raw material exports. He explained that the 24-Hour Economy and Accelerated Export Development Programme is designed to boost domestic production, encourage value addition, and increase the export of processed and value-added goods.
