As we celebrate International women’s day today, March 8, 2018, the vice chairman of the National Democratic Congress (NDC), Mr. Samuel Ofosu Ampofo has bemoaned, stating that women in the informal sector face a great threat with the increase of international super markets springing all over the country.
Although he believes these super markets serve a section of the community it deprives the common market woman of her day to day sales.
“People no longer visit the regular markets for foodstuffs as it use to be some time ago. Our women work so hard and unfortunately earn just a little from their work” He Stated.
Speaking on Ahotor FM’s Morning show with Onantefour Addea Mununkum, Mr. Ampofo emphasized that the role played by women in our society cannot be underestimated in any way and much attention should be given to vulnerable and marginalized women in our country.
