Kenya Court orders for return of deported opposition politician

The Kenyan High Court has declared that, the Member of the opposition party Miguna Miguna, who was deported to Canada, a country he happens to be a citizen of should be ordered to return.

According to the local press in the country, the High Court has stated that, the deported politician was treated unfairly and has ordered for him to be returned to the country.

His deportation comes up after he played a major role in swearing in Raila Odinga as the peoples President in January.

Although the Kenyan constitution has stated under Article 17 that the only way a person could be denied citizenship of Kenya is when they acquired through an illegal means or if their parents and themselves were citizens of another country or if the person was over 8 years when found in the country, Mr Miguna was deported regardless of the fact that he has fulfilled all the above conditions of being a citizen of Kenya.

He was deported on 7 February by the government although the court had demanded that the politician be brought brought to face the court.
