The National Commander of Operation Vanguard Colonel Micheal Amoah Ayisi has disclosed that, galamsey is gradually increasing in the Twifo Ati-Morkwa district.
He said ,the galamseyers have invaded the district because of their effective work at different regions across the country.
He said they have destroyed 26 chamfan machines at Abuboi – Brofoyedru today.
Giving statistics about their work so far he said,1040 illegal miners have been arrested with 135 convicted with 22 chinese,4000 chamfan machines destroyed,176 excavators seized,87 small arms destroyed and 1382 bullets seized.
Col. Ayisi added that ,they are facing many challenges in the cause of their duties. He said, seized excavator are being left at the galamsey site because of the lack of heavy Machines to convey the excavator.
He also said, the taskforce have to walk many miles before getting to various galamsey site. He concluded that he has a narrow hope about whether the ban on galamsey can be lifted or not.
The people of Aworowa a suburb of Techiman in the Brong Ahafo region held their Final communal labour on their newly built police station today 20th January 2018.
The commission of the police station is on Wednesday 21th January 2018.
