Ghana Boxing Authority congratulates Dogboe
The Ghana Boxing Authority (GBA) has congratulated Isaac Dogbe on winning the WBO International super-bantamweight title against Argentine Julian Evaristo Aristule at the Vector Arena in Auckland, New Zealand, last Saturday.
The 22-year-old boxer fought on the undercard of the Joseph Parker versus Andy Ruiz WBO world heavyweight championship.
An executive member of the GBA, Alhaji Tofik Murtala, told the Daily Graphic that Dogbe’s feat, together with the victory of Emmanuel Tagoe, had brought a lot of respect to the country relative to the sport.
He lauded Dogbe for proving his worth outside the country and for his bravery in the face of difficulties.
The GBA subsequently tasked Dogbe not to rest on his oars but train harder to annex the WBO world title currently held by Jesse Magdaleno of the United States.
Dogbe, who fought the vastly experienced Aristule (32-7, 16 kos), has improved his record to 16 wins, including 10 knockouts.
The petite pugilist was recently named the WBO African Boxer of the Year.
