Mr. Daniel Kofi Kwarteng, Greater-Accra Regional Chairman of Scripture Union (SU), did not share thoughts with people who excused themselves from observing their quiet times because of their busy work schedules.
He argued that people have time to watch television, play golf and tennis, watch football, spend time on social media, etc., but when it comes to spending time with their Creator, the One who gives time and controls it, alas, they don’t have the time.
He observed that parents could sit their children down and help them with their home works from school, but wouldn’t make the time to have at least thirty minutes devotion with them.
According to him, the best way to build a sustainable society is to have strong family unit systems and this starts with parents nurturing their children in the fear of God. “Let every family go back to God. Let every family go back to the Bible. Let’s be interested in our children,” the Chairman of the Christian Council at 80 Planning Committee, said. And of course, “It’s good to go to church, it’s good to listen to the preaching of our pastors but we must be personal bible students,” he added.
The IT professional and specialist, who works with Institutions such as SSNIT, Advanced Computer Systems and SHELL Ghana Limited, where he joined as a programmer and went through the ranks to become the head of IT until his retirement in 2013, made these observations while playing guest on the February 5, 2018’s edition of Heroes of Our Time with Akyena Brantuo on Ahotor 92.3fm
