Prof. George Agyei to receive Best Performing CEO award at 2026 Ghana Minister of the Year Awards

Professor George Agyei, Director-General and Chief Executive Officer of the Ghana Standards Authority (GSA), is set to be honoured with the Best Performing CEO Award (State Companies) at the 6th edition of the Ghana Minister of the Year (MOTY) Awards.

The prestigious ceremony is scheduled to take place on Saturday, June 6, 2026, at the La Palm Royal Beach Hotel Convention Centre in Accra and is expected to attract government officials, diplomats, business leaders, civil society representatives, and members of the media.

Professor Agyei’s recognition follows his selection by the Ghana Minister of the Year Awards Board and Technical Panel after an extensive assessment of leadership effectiveness, financial management, corporate governance, institutional impact, and service delivery performance during the 2025 assessment year.

According to the organizers, the Ghana Standards Authority boss distinguished himself through exceptional leadership, strategic direction, and measurable institutional achievements that have strengthened the Authority’s mandate of promoting standards, quality assurance, and consumer protection across the country.

The award is also seen as recognition of the collective efforts of the management and staff of the Ghana Standards Authority, whose work has contributed significantly to improving standards compliance and enhancing consumer confidence in products and services within the Ghanaian market.

Over the years, the Ghana Minister of the Year Awards have become a respected platform for celebrating excellence, accountability, innovation, and impactful leadership in public service. The awards seek to recognize individuals and institutions that have demonstrated outstanding commitment to national development and effective governance.

For many observers, Professor Agyei’s impending honour reflects the growing importance of results-driven leadership in Ghana’s public institutions and serves as a testament to the role effective management plays in strengthening state agencies and advancing national development objectives.

As anticipation builds ahead of the ceremony, attention will be focused on the Ghana Standards Authority as its Director-General prepares to receive one of the event’s most distinguished honours.
