In a significant move to broaden its talent pool and strengthen connections with the Ghanaian diaspora, the Ghana Football Association successfully conducted its first-ever talent identification programme in the United Kingdom.
About forty (40) players of Ghanaian descent, born in the United Kingdom and currently developing in Category One academies, took part in the Ghana Football Association’s first-ever talent identification programme in the UK.
The initiative, organised by the GFA in partnership with Coach Hene Sports Club, the Ghana High Commission United Kingdom, and Prince Lamona Consult, aims to identify and nurture top young talents to strengthen Ghana’s national teams in the future.
U15 to U20 players from leading English academies including Chelsea FC, Everton FC, Manchester City FC, Arsenal FC, and others, were comprehensively assessed during the session held in Bromley. The evaluation was led by GFA Technical Director Prof. Mintah and FIFA Talent Coach Stuart McLaren, supported by coaches from Coach Hene Sports Club, who closely monitored the standout performers.
The Ghana FA plans to expand the programme in the coming months to include players from Category Two and Three academies, as well as grassroots talent across the UK and beyond.
