“What Critical Meeting Has Been Held to Address the Issues?” – Nana Osei Piesie Questions NDC After Callistus Mahama’s Letter

TEMA, Ghana, 28th May: Amid alleged internal wranglings within the ruling National Democratic Congress (NDC) over who succeeds President John Dramani Mahama, political historian Nana Osei Anto Piesie has urged the party to quickly find solutions to the growing tensions.

According to him, such internal divisions could derail the government’s plans and distract the party from its core mandate of governance.

His comments follow an article written by the Executive Secretary to the President, Dr. Callistus Mahama, titled “Before the Race Begins: A Call for Discipline, Reflection, and Duty.”

In the article, Dr. Callistus Mahama cautioned party members against engaging in premature succession politics.

“There is a quiet danger that sometimes creeps into political life, not with noise, but with whispers. It begins subtly, like a conversation here, a suggestion there, and a quiet alignment of interests. Before long, attention shifts from the work at hand to the question of ‘what comes next.’ That moment appears to be approaching far too early,” portions of the article stated.

Reacting to the development on Ahotor FM’s Thursday Class segment on the Adekyee Mu Nsem morning show on Thursday, May 28, Nana Osei Piesie questioned whether any critical stakeholder meeting had been organised to address the concerns and misunderstandings within the party.

He argued that bringing all stakeholders together to openly discuss the issues could help resolve the internal wranglings currently brewing in the NDC.
