The General Secretary of the opposition party, National Democratic Congress (NDC), Johnson Aseidu Nketia has stated that a statement from the Inspector General of police, Mr David Asante-Apeatu is not enough to assure the safety of the citizenry.
According to the general mosquito, the government needs to put out pragmatic measures to assure the safety of all Ghanaians.
Speaking on Ahotor FM’s Morning show hosted by Onantefour Addae Mununkum, Aseidu Nketia stated that there is much evidence that shows that the country is not safe, he talked about the killing of police and military officials in recent times.
“The IPG should address the constant insecurity in the country and should not assured us because they have confiscated grenades. He should address the safety of police men killed in the country and the way forward, I think that is most important and should be addressed” He stated.
The Inspector-General of Police (IGP), Mr David Asante-Apeatu, assured the public and the international community that Ghana is safe.
He said there was, therefore, no cause of alarm and gave an assurance that the police and the other security agencies were ready to deal with any security breaches.
He was briefed the media in Accra on Tuesday following the arrest of three persons for allegedly possessing objects believed to be explosives of varied species at Agape Down, near Ablekuma, and Kwashibu, near Lapaz, in Accra last Monday.
