Establish specialized court for special Prosecutor’s work – Lawyer Maurice Ampaw

Ace Lawyer, Maurice Ampaw has stated that he is not too surprise about Martin Amidu’s nomination as the special prosecutor.

 

According to him Martin Amidu is more than qualified to take up the position because of his no-nonsense stance and campaign against corruption   but his major concern is the staff that he will work with.

Maurice Ampaw spoke on Ahotor FM’s morning show on Monday 15th January, 2018.

He stated that the special prosecutor’s work is a daunting task and will need skillful and qualified team to achieve his target. He pleaded on the office of the chief justice to help establish special courts that will sit on cases brought before it by the special prosecutor’s office.

“Matin Amidu needs an undercover investigative team like that of Anas. We do not want the likes of EOCO, CID that have made a huge stated on their slow pace of work as a body mandated for such duty”

“We need a formidable team to help him bring out hard core evidence prosecution. He will also need an administrative staff that will not be corrupted”.

Maurice Ampaw further stated that Martin Amidu will need special prosecutors at the various regions to enhance his work.

He concluded that strong structures should be put in place to help achieve the work they have been mandated.

Mr. Amidu, a man who has earned the nickname ‘Citizen Vigilante’ for his no-nonsense stance and campaign against corruption was named by President Akufo-Addo on Thursday 11th January 2018, after an emergency cabinet meeting at the Flagstaff House.

The President in announcing the name, said he received the nomination from the Attorney General Gloria Akuffo, and has accepted the nominee, whose name will be forwarded to Parliament for approval when the House reconvenes from recess.
