GHALCA G8: Kotoko beat newcomers Eleven Wonders 1-0 in Kumasi
FA Cup winners Kumasi Asante Kotoko beat Premier League new comers Eleven Wonders 1-0 in the GHALCA G8 opener in Kumasi.
The Porcupine Warriors scored in the 35 minute courtesy an Obed Owusu penalty, to secure all three points.
The Ghanaian giants looked far from convincing but handed a couple of players their debuts, including new signing from Aduana Adams Wahab and Ghana under-17 goalkeeper Ibrahim Dan Lad.
The Kumasi based club began the game in high tempo and it took a little over the half hour mark for the reds to grab the only goal of the game.
Meanwhile, newcomers Techiman Eleven Wonders looked a much better side in the second half, dominating possession and creating a couple of goal scoring opportunities, which they failed to score.
Eleven Wonders had some experience in their team, making them look strong as opposed to a club from the lower tier.
Following the acquisitions of Iddrissu Yahaya and Larbi Koomson, the experience of the duo was evident in the game, despite the defeat.
Kumasi Asante Kotoko will next face another new comer, Dream FC, with Eleven Wonders squaring up with Premier League Champions Aduana Stars.
