Police Restore Calm at Akyem Oda After Cutlass-Wielding Youth Clash; Three Arrested

The Eastern South Regional Police Command has restored calm to Akyem Oda following a violent clash involving young men armed with cutlasses at the New Station Area.

According to a press release dated May 6, 2026, signed by DSP David Fianko-Okyere of the Public Affairs Unit, a group of young men were captured in a viral video wielding cutlasses and attacking each other. Upon receipt of the information, police promptly moved to the scene to restore order.

Two suspects were subsequently located receiving treatment at two separate hospitals. Suspect George Okyere, aged 30, was found at the emergency ward of the Oda Jubilee Hospital suffering from a deep cut on his forehead and a chopped-off right finger.

The second suspect, Paul Pascalele, was located at the emergency ward of the Akyem Oda Government Hospital with a deep cut on his right hand.

In a related development, police also arrested suspect Evans Adayele, who was found hiding in his hideout, to assist with investigations.

Authorities have confirmed that efforts are underway to track down and arrest other suspects involved in the clash. All arrested persons will face further investigation and prosecution.

The Police Command assured residents that calm has been fully restored to the New Station Area and urged the public to remain law-abiding.
