“Not more than 800 members of the Ghana Supporters Union (GHANSU) will be taken to the World Cup”- Kofi Adams

Kofi Adams, Ghana’s Minister for Sports and Recreation, has announced that the number of members from the Ghana Supporters Union (GHANSU) who will be supported to travel to the upcoming FIFA World Cup will be strictly limited.

According to the minister, no more than 800 GHANSU members will be taken to the tournament. This decision is aimed at ensuring organized, manageable, and effective supporter representation for the Black Stars during the global event, while maintaining discipline and proper coordination among the fans.

The minister emphasized that allowing an uncontrolled or excessively large group of supporters to travel could lead to logistical challenges, potential security issues, and difficulties in providing adequate welfare and coordination on the ground.

By capping the number at 800, the government and the sports ministry hope to create a more structured environment where fans can fully represent Ghana in a positive and unified manner.

This selected group is expected to serve as the official delegation of passionate supporters, helping to boost the morale of the Black Stars players while projecting a disciplined image of Ghanaian football fandom on the international stage.

The announcement comes as part of broader preparations for the Black Stars’ participation in the World Cup, with the ministry working closely with relevant stakeholders to facilitate travel arrangements, accommodation, and other necessary support for the chosen GHANSU members.

Officials believe this measured approach will not only enhance the overall supporter experience but also ensure that the fans’ presence contributes meaningfully to the team’s campaign without overwhelming resources or compromising safety protocols.
