The offices of the Daily Guide newspaper in Kumasi was Tuesday night invaded by some youth said to be members of the Kumasi Youth Association (KuYA) who wants a retraction and an apology from the newspaper, in relation to a report that linked the Asantehene, Otumfuo Osei Tutu II to an alleged money laundering case in London.
“With immediate effect KuYA demand an apology and front page retraction and further comes [sic] to the royal palace to apologise to His Royal Majesty. Failure to do so will lead to permanent closure of your office in Kumasi. The kindom [sic] is bigger than any individual or company,” one of the notices read.
Other warning inscriptions on the wall read, “Be warn Daily Guide.”
The newspaper has reported the matter to the police.
