Head coach Otto Addo is expected to announce the Ghana national football team squad later this week for the upcoming international friendlies against Austria national football team and Germany national football team as preparations intensify for the 2026 FIFA World Cup.
The Black Stars will first take on Austria on Friday, March 27, 2026, at the Ernst Happel Stadium in Vienna, with kickoff scheduled for 17:00 GMT.
Following that encounter, Addo’s side will travel to Stuttgart to face Germany—winners of the 2014 FIFA World Cup—in a second high-profile friendly on Monday, March 30.
The Black Stars technical team is expected to name a strong squad for both fixtures as they continue to fine-tune the team ahead of the global tournament.
Looking further ahead, Ghana will also face the Mexico national football team in May before concluding their pre-World Cup preparations with another friendly against the Wales national football team on June 2.
Ghana, who are preparing for their fifth appearance at the FIFA World Cup, have been drawn in Group L alongside the Panama national football team, England national football team and Croatia national football team.
The Black Stars will open their campaign against Panama on June 17, face England on June 23, and wrap up their group-stage fixtures against Croatia on June 27.
After suffering group-stage eliminations at the 2014 FIFA World Cup and the 2022 FIFA World Cup, Ghana will be eager to deliver a stronger and more competitive performance when the tournament kicks off across North America.
