The Ghana Football Association (GFA) has formally charged Mohamed Camara, the goalkeeper for Asante Kotoko, along with the club’s welfare officer Kwasi Frimpong Amos, over allegations of misconduct stemming from their recent Ghana Premier League fixture against Karela United FC.
According to the GFA’s Disciplinary Committee, the pair violated Article 12(1)(i) of the GFA Disciplinary Code (2019) during or immediately following the match.

Reports indicate that Camara confronted the referee in an aggressive manner, using insulting and abusive language while allegedly assaulting or attempting to assault the official, though he was quickly restrained by police personnel on duty.
Meanwhile, Kwasi Frimpong Amos, a former club captain now serving as welfare officer, is accused of interfering with the referee’s authority, including reportedly seizing the official’s red card during a heated moment in the game.
These actions are said to have undermined the referee’s ability to carry out their duties and maintain order on the pitch. The GFA has given both individuals until Wednesday, March 11, to respond to the charges. The incident adds to ongoing tensions in what appears to have been a contentious encounter between the two sides, highlighting recurring issues around referee decisions and post-match conduct in the league.
Asante Kotoko now awaits the outcome of the disciplinary process, which could result in fines, suspensions, or other sanctions depending on the findings.
