“Vacate Now or Face the Law” – Bole-Bamboi MP Cracks Down on Illegal Miners Along Black Volta

The Member of Parliament for Bole-Bamboi and Deputy Minister for Lands and Natural Resources, Alhaji Yussif Sulemana, has issued a stern ultimatum to illegal miners operating along the Black Volta River, ordering them to leave immediately or face decisive enforcement measures.

During a monitoring tour of riverine communities in the Bole District, the Deputy Minister made it clear that government will not tolerate continued destruction of water bodies and forest reserves through illegal mining activities.

He warned that unauthorized miners along the Black Volta must vacate the area without delay, stressing that authorities are prepared to take firm action against those who defy the directive.

According to him, the fight against illegal mining—particularly in water bodies and forest reserves—remains a top priority. He reaffirmed government’s commitment to restoring polluted rivers and reclaiming degraded forest lands.

“In terms of illegal mining in our water bodies and forest reserves, we will not relent in our efforts to ensure that our waters become clean again,” he stressed.

He further indicated that illegal operators occupying sections of forest reserves in the southern sector will be removed as part of a broader strategy to safeguard Ghana’s natural resources.

Describing the anti-galamsey campaign as a solemn pledge to Ghanaians, the Deputy Minister emphasized that authorities are resolute, focused, and determined to see the mission through.

The latest warning signals intensified efforts by government to clamp down on illegal mining, particularly in ecologically sensitive zones that serve as critical water sources for communities.
