The public relations officer of the Ghana Water Company Limited, Mr. Stanley Martey has stated that the country has enough water to meet the growing demand.
According to Mr. Martey, the country has enough water resources and if accessed well by the company we will not be in want. He stated that the company’s challenge is lack of infrastructure.
He continued by stating that there might be intermittent power cut due to ongoing expansion works on some pipes linking the Weija area.
“Sometimes past we were apportioning water among residents in Accra, this is not happening now as we speak”
“Our vision to make water accessible in every home by 2021 is on course and we are working seriously towards it, we as a company will do anything to make sure we achieve this vision”
Mr. Martey further stated that contractors and estate developers should seek permits from the town and country planning agency before any works. To prevent pipe damages experienced in recent time.
He was speaking on Ahotor FM’s morning show, hosted by Emmanuel Quarshie on Thursday 24th August, 2017
“Weija and Kpong treatment plants are currently operating at full capacity and produce enough water that exceeds the level of demand in the greater Accra Region”, He concluded.
