Accra, Ghana – The First Lady of the Republic of Ghana, H.E. Mrs. Lordina Dramani Mahama, has delivered a deeply heartfelt message in celebration of Mother’s Day, extending warm wishes and admiration to all Ghanaian mothers and women across the nation.

In a statement issued to mark the occasion, the First Lady expressed her deep appreciation for the strength, love, and sacrifices that mothers embody every day.

“My dear mothers and remarkable women of Ghana, on this beautiful occasion of Mother’s Day, my heart is filled with profound gratitude and admiration for each of you,” she wrote.

H.E. Lordina Mahama described Mother’s Day as a moment to pause and honour the vital role mothers play in the lives of their families and the nation at large.

“Today is an opportunity to pause and honour the incredible strength, unwavering love, and countless sacrifices that mothers make daily. We are the pillars of our homes and the heartbeat of our nation. Mothers nurture the future,” she said.

She further acknowledged that the nurturing role of mothers, combined with their wisdom and guidance, is foundational to building compassionate families and communities.

“Our nurturing hands, wise counsel, and unconditional assistance foster strong families and communities, laying the groundwork for a compassionate society,” she added.

Highlighting the link between family well-being and national development, the First Lady praised the relentless efforts of mothers in building stable homes, despite daily challenges.

“My dear mothers, I know your daily efforts and challenges as you strive to build better lives for yourselves and your families. The well-being of our homes and children is intrinsically linked to the progress and stability of our nation,” she said.

H.E. Lordina Mahama also underscored the shared vision she holds with her husband, President John Dramani Mahama, of creating a prosperous and inclusive Ghana.

“My deepest conviction, a belief shared wholeheartedly by my husband, President John Dramani Mahama, is that creating an environment where every Ghanaian family can prosper is paramount. He remains steadfast in his commitment to resetting our economy to achieve robust and inclusive growth, creating more job opportunities for our youth and all citizens,” she said.

She noted the President’s efforts to make Ghana a hub for both local and international investment, with the aim of improving the living conditions of all Ghanaians.

“He is also dedicated to positioning Ghana as a preferred destination for local and international investment and business, ultimately aimed at improving the living conditions for all Ghanaians and ensuring a brighter future for our children,” she stated.

Reaffirming her own dedication, the First Lady emphasized her continued support for women and vulnerable groups through the work of the Lordina Foundation.

“My commitment to supporting women and vulnerable groups in Ghana remains as strong as ever. Through the work of the Lordina Foundation, we will continue our efforts to empower women through skills training and economic support, advocate for their rights, and provide essential assistance to those who need it most, including children and persons living with HIV/AIDS,” she said.

She also emphasized healthcare as a critical area of focus, particularly maternal and child health.

“A critical area of our focus is healthcare, particularly for mothers and children. We are dedicated to improving healthcare facilities across the country, specifically by providing modern, fully equipped maternity and children’s wards in hospitals. Ensuring that mothers receive the best possible care during pregnancy and childbirth and that our children have access to quality health services is a cause very close to my heart, and I will continue to champion it,” she said.

As she concluded her message, H.E. Lordina Mahama applauded mothers for their tireless love and sacrifice.

“Today, as we celebrate mothers, know that your sacrifices, strength, and love are seen, valued, and deeply appreciated by your families, communities, and nation,” she said.
