The New Patriotic Party (NPP) has shifted its focus to the alleged drug trafficking scandal, putting internal party matters involving former Dome-Kwabenya MP Adwoa Safo on the backburner. NPP General Secretary Justin Kodua Frimpong announced the decision to postpone a scheduled meeting, citing the gravity of the allegations as the reason.
The party considers the scandal a matter of national interest requiring urgent attention and critical engagement with the government. Frimpong emphasized that the party won’t be swayed by internal politics, prioritizing transparency, accountability, and clarity on the matter.
Frimpong expressed disappointment in the government’s handling of the situation, questioning inconsistencies in the official narrative and the silence from security agencies. He believes this has damaged Ghana’s international image.
Adwoa Safo, accompanied by supporters, arrived at the NPP headquarters to appear before the party’s Disciplinary Committee. However, she expressed frustration that the committee failed to notify her about the postponement of her scheduled appearance.
The NPP’s decision to focus on the alleged drug trafficking scandal indicates a shift in priorities, potentially impacting the party’s internal dynamics and relationship with the government. As the situation unfolds, Ghanaians will be watching for answers on transparency and accountability.
