NPP’s 2024 Election Defeat Due to Poor Communication and Alienation of Key Groups – Adomako Baafi

Former Director of Communication for the opposition New Patriotic Party (NPP), Yaw Adomako Baafi, has identified poor communication and the alienation of key societal groups as major factors behind the party’s defeat in the 2024 elections.

According to Baafi, the NPP failed to effectively communicate its policies and achievements to the electorate, leading to misinformation and a disconnect between the party and the public.

He further noted that the party’s treatment of certain critical stakeholders—including Civil Society Organizations (CSOs), the media, academia, and the business community—created resentment and eroded the goodwill NPP had built over the years.

“The party’s inability to engage and maintain a strong relationship with these influential groups cost us dearly. We sidelined the voices that shape public perception, and in the end, that worked against us,” Baafi stated.

His comments add to the growing internal debate within the NPP as it reassesses its strategy and leadership approach following the electoral loss. Many within the party are now calling for urgent reforms to rebuild public trust, improve communication strategies, and reconnect with key stakeholders ahead of future elections.
