Black Stars to Play Additional Pre-World Cup Friendlies in May and June – Kofi Adams

Minister for Sports and Recreation, Kofi Adams, has confirmed that the Black Stars will engage in more international friendly matches in May and June as part of their preparations for the 2026 FIFA World Cup.

Ghana is set to feature at the global showpiece, which will be co-hosted by the United States, Canada and Mexico. As part of the early build-up to the tournament, the four-time African champions are already scheduled to face Austria and Germany in high-profile friendly matches in March.

Speaking in an interview with Asempa FM, Adams disclosed that further warm-up fixtures have been arranged to help fine-tune the team ahead of the World Cup.

“The Black Stars will play additional friendlies in May and June, after the matches against Austria and Germany, as part of our preparations for the World Cup,” said the Buem Member of Parliament.

Ghana has been drawn in Group L and will open their World Cup campaign against Panama on June 17 in Toronto. They will then face England in Boston on June 23 before concluding the group stage against Croatia on June 27 in Philadelphia.

After disappointing group-stage exits at the 2014 World Cup in Brazil and the 2022 tournament in Qatar, the Black Stars are determined to make a stronger impact when they return to football’s biggest stage in 2026.
