Ghana celebrated fashion icon and media personality Kofi Okyere Darko (KOD) made a passionate plea on TV3, stating, “Creatives shouldn’t die poor.”
During an exclusive interview on TV3’s, KOD expressed deep concern over the financial struggles creatives face despite their immense contributions to Ghana’s cultural landscape.
He highlighted the heartbreaking reality of many legendary figures dying in poverty after decades of hard work.
“We celebrate them when they are alive, we adore their talents, but when they are gone, many of them leave behind nothing. Why should those who make us happy, those who create for us, die in misery?” KOD questioned passionately.
He pointed out the need for proper financial structures, royalty systems, and investment opportunities to support creatives beyond their prime years.
