Deputy CEO of the Ghana Tourism Authority, Abeiku Aggrey Santana, has shared exciting updates about this year’s Ghana Heritage Month celebrations, emphasizing efforts to make the event more inclusive and impactful.
Speaking on Ahotor FM, he addressed longstanding concerns that national festivals often prioritize the Greater Accra Region, sidelining smaller towns and other regions across the country.
“In the past, many people have criticized us for focusing solely on events in the Greater Accra Region during our celebrations, leaving out smaller towns and other parts of Ghana. This criticism is valid, which is why the Ghana Tourism Authority, under the Ministry of Tourism, Arts, and Culture, has taken deliberate steps to ensure inclusivity this year,” he stated.
He explained that the authority has expanded the scope of the festivities to all 16 regions of Ghana. Regional directors of the Ghana Tourism Authority, alongside private stakeholders, cultural promoters, and the media, are actively involved in highlighting the unique traditions, arts, and heritage of every region.
