Hon. Edem Agbana Responds to NPP’s Boycott of National Economic Dialogue: “Ghana Will Progress Without Them”

The Member of Parliament for Ketu North, Hon. Edem Agbana has weighed in on the New Patriotic Party’s (NPP) decision to boycott the National Economic Dialogue, assuring Ghanaians that the country’s progress will not be hindered by their absence.

In a bold statement, Hon. Agbana reaffirmed his confidence in Ghana’s ability to move forward despite the NPP’s decision to stay away from the crucial discussions on the nation’s economic future.

“May God, the lifter of men, help us such that our aspirations should shape the destiny of this beautiful country of ours,” he stated, setting the tone for a message of resilience and national determination.

Addressing the boycott, the Ketu North legislator extended well wishes to the NPP but made it clear that their absence would not derail Ghana’s progress.

“Those who chose to stay out of the National Economic Dialogue, we wish them well. But we want them to know that we know without them, Ghana will make progress. We know without them, we will correct their mess and clean their mess. Without them, this country will be placed back on the path of progress and steady development,” he declared.

Hon. Agbana also emphasized that while the NPP may choose to boycott critical discussions, there is one thing they cannot escape—accountability.

“They can boycott any other thing in this country, but there is one thing they cannot boycott. That is accountability. When we begin to implement the findings in the ‘Operation Recover All Loot’ and any other adverse findings against them, they will not boycott the accountability process,” he warned.

His remarks come in the wake of growing concerns over the NPP’s decision to distance itself from the dialogue, which aims to address Ghana’s economic challenges and propose solutions for sustainable development.

The National Economic Dialogue has been widely viewed as a necessary platform for bipartisan collaboration in tackling economic issues. However, the NPP’s absence has raised questions about their commitment to national progress.

Hon. Agbana’s message reinforces the determination of the current leadership to ensure that governance is accountable, and those responsible for economic mismanagement will face due process.

The Member of Parliament, Hon. Edem Agbana’s statement signals a strong stance against impunity while assuring Ghanaians that the country’s future remains on a path of recovery and stability.
