The people of Ashanti Region don’t think Dr. Bawumia’s Muslim faith or Northern heritage contributed to his defeat,according to Hon Osei Kyei Mensah Bonsu.
Instead, a study conducted by the NPP points to *voter disillusionment* fueled by corruption scandals, perceived nepotism, and neglect of the party’s core supporters as the main reasons for their defeat.
The study, which surveyed 2,559 voters across all 47 constituencies in the Ashanti Region, found that these factors played a significant role in the NPP’s loss.
It’s interesting to note that the party has set up a committee to investigate the reasons behind their loss in other regions, and if Dr. Bawumia’s Muslim background is found to be a contributing factor, they’ll reassess their strategy.
