Staff of Pantang Psychiatric Hospital have hit the streets to register their displeasure over encroachment on the facility’s land.
The staff, mainly nurses, poured on the streets in their uniforms and red bands with placards to ward off private developers on their land.
The inscriptions on some of the placards read: “Mr. President, stop the encroachment,” “Mr. President use Executive Instrument to stop the encroachment now,” and “Peter Amewu, please intervene.”
The nurses are expected to present a petition to the Minister of Health Kwaku Agyemang Manu at the hospital’s premises.
They have already suspended OPD and other non-emergency services, leaving patients and their relatives stranded.
The staff have threatened to shut down the facility if government fails to act.
The Lands Minister, John Peter Amewu, is also investigating the complaints from the Pantang Hospital workers over the encroachment on their lands.
