NPP’s election defeat; Yaw Kumi condemns early campaign internally

The Akwatia MP, Ernest Yaw Kumi, has spoken out against some New Patriotic Party (NPP) members who have already started campaigning for internal positions, despite the party’s defeat in the 2024 elections.

Kumi expressed disappointment that individuals are vying for party positions before the committee investigating the loss has released its findings.

The NPP has established a committee, chaired by Professor Aaron Mike Oquaye, to probe the causes of the party’s electoral defeat.

Kumi urged party members to suspend their internal campaigns until the committee’s report is made public, to ensure informed strategies for rebuilding the party.

This call for restraint is echoed by the NPP Council of Elders, who have also advised members to cease campaigning for internal positions.

The council emphasized that the party’s primary focus should be on addressing its electoral failures and re-establishing itself as a strong and united political force.
