
His Excellency the President of Ghana, John Dramani Mahama, has charged the brand new Minister of Sports and Recreation, Kofi Adams, to make sure the country regains its sporting pride acknowledging the mountain of task ahead.
The president’s demanding but encouraging comments come after a swearing-in ceremony of the Buem Constituency’s Member of Parliament, Kofi Iddie Adams and a host of others on Friday, February 7, 2025, at the Jubilee House.

Ghana has become a sleeping giants in recent years and has utterly lost its fearsome factor when it matters sports and especially football and new the government will an urgent need a reset to revive the status quo.
The Black Stars failed to qualify for the 2025 Africa Cup of Nations (AFCON) to be staged in Morocco. This follows back-to-back group stage exits in the last two editions which followed a round of sixteen exit in 2019.
In the latest episode the African Nations Cup, the Black Stars could not pick a single win again a group opponents Sudan, Angola and Niger in the qualifying round.
The Black Galaxies, Ghana’s U23 also failed to appear the CHAN 2025 tournament scheduled for August after proving too light for Nigeria on the play-offs.
Currently, the struggling domestic top flight league is forcibly on hold following incidents hooliganism.
“The Honourable Kofi Adams, Minister for Sports and Recreation, I don’t envy your job,” Mahama said.
“You have the monumental task of restoring Ghana to its pride of place in African and world sports.”
“I expect that you will concentrate on building up on the sports disciplines and I know the Ghana Football Association will be a good place to start to work to restore Black Stars to its glory days,” he added.

Kofi Adam seem to have already began work as he has since his nomination been engaging industry players to put his policies across towards achieving set targets in the sports world.
