Former Member of Parliament (MP) for Asante Akyem North, Andy Appiah-Kubi, has called on Parliament to reconsider its decision to hold in-camera hearings on the committee investigating the recent vetting chaos.
He insists that conducting the hearings publicly will foster trust, transparency, and accountability in the eyes of Ghanaians.
Speaking to Ahotor News, the former MP argued that a closed-door investigation could lead to suspicion and erode public confidence in the process.
He stressed that parliamentary proceedings, especially those dealing with critical national issues, should be open to public scrutiny to ensure fairness and credibility.
He further emphasized that transparency in governance is a key pillar of democracy, and any attempt to conceal crucial proceedings could set a bad precedent for future investigations.
According to him, allowing public participation and media coverage will enhance accountability and ensure that the findings and recommendations of the committee are widely accepted.
