Mahama urges strict adherence to 2026 Hajj guidelines

President John Dramani Mahama has called for strict adherence to established guidelines for the 2026 Hajj, emphasizing the need for a seamless process.

Mandatory medical examinations and screenings for prospective pilgrims are set to begin on Monday, February 2. The exercise will be carried out in collaboration with designated medical teams to safeguard the health and well-being of all intending pilgrims ahead of the sacred journey.

Speaking at the commissioning of the Akweteyman Central Mosque in Accra, President Mahama urged pilgrims to cooperate fully with the Hajj Board and relevant authorities.

“I want all of us to cooperate with the Hajj Committee so that we have a very peaceful Hajj this year. They have already done some work. They have gotten good accommodation, which is closer to the Kaaba and in Medina as well. They are arranging the transport and all that. I am sure that this year we are going to have a good exercise,” he said.

President Mahama also expressed optimism about the Airport Transit Terminal, currently under construction by the Ghana Airports Company Limited, noting that its completion by 2027 will provide pilgrims with a more comfortable transit experience
