Timini Egbuson on Modern Relationships: “It’s Exhausting When People Leave After You Get to Know Them”

Nollywood actor Timini Egbuson has spoken candidly about the challenges of building meaningful relationships in today’s world, expressing frustration over their fleeting nature.

In a recent interview on TVC, Timini admitted that despite his success and stability, loneliness can still creep in. “Sometimes, it does get lonely. You have everything, and you understand the importance of protecting your energy, so you’re not just going to let anybody in,” he shared.

He highlighted his growing frustration with how quickly relationships fade.

“I’m personally tired of temporary connections—when you meet someone, get to know them, and then they leave. It’s exhausting.”

Timini also pointed to the role of social media in shaping unrealistic relationship expectations, blaming the “woke generation” for fueling misguided beliefs about love.

“People are quick to leave relationships because of the misinformation out there about what a perfect relationship should look like. Your partner might be treating you well, but then you see a TikTok video titled ‘Seven Signs He’s Not Your Man,’ and if it slightly matches your reality, you suddenly question your relationship.”

Additionally, he criticized the way dating has evolved, claiming that many women have monetized relationships while men have become indifferent.

“Men are nonchalant because they have access to so many women. Once you have money, you have options. And many women have turned dating into a financial transaction.”

He further explained that extravagant spending isn’t necessarily a sign of love.

“Some men believe that by spending lavishly, a woman will assume they love her. But that’s not love. A billionaire can do the same thing for hundreds of women without itmeaning anything.”
