The New Patriotic Party (NPP) government does not believe in any development plan and therefore cannot mortgage the country’s natural resources for the $15 billion dollar loan it is trying to secure from the Chinese government, the minority in parliament has stated.
“The NPP do not have development plans because they do not believe in it. If they claim to have they should make it available for everyone to see”, ranking member of the Finance Committee, Hon. Isaac Adongo dared.
“Senior Minister [Hon.Yaw Osafo Marfo] at vetting indicated that he does not believe in a forty-year development plan”, the National Democratic Congress (NDC) Member of Parliament (MP) for Bolgatanga Central in the Upper East Region recollected.
“…And that is the view of this government”, the MP on Asempa FM’s “Eko Sii Sen” afternoon political talk show hosts by Kojo Asare Baffour Acheampong (KABA) claimed.
“When the NDC went to Senchi to find a common ground for the development of Ghana for the next five years did you see NPP there? They did not. It means they did not believe whatever happened in Senchi” he asserted.
“The NPP do not know what they are doing in government before going for this $15 billion dollar grant/loan” he teased
Government delegation led by Vice-President Dr. Mahammodu Bawumia secured the $15 billion dollar loan/grant from the China to fund massive transformational projects with the likelihood that another four billion dollars wound be committed to various projects in the country.
A Deputy Finance Minister, Hon. Kwaku Kwarteng Agyemang has revealed government will bring the full details of the loan before parliament for deliberation as required by law.
But the minority NDC in parliament insists they need blue prints of government’s projects to allay their fears despite this year’s budget document.
