Former Black Stars psychologist Dr. Patrick Ofori is calling on the Ghana Football Association to strengthen the technical team ahead of the 2026 World Cup.
Despite Ghana securing a spot in the tournament, Dr. Ofori believes more support is needed to maximize the team’s potential.
“I still think they may need to beef it up because football has evolved,” Dr. Ofori told Citi Sports. “There are teams that have analysts whose sole job is to study opposing defenders; their concentration levels, behaviour and patterns.”
Ghana’s technical team was bolstered with Desmond Ofei, Winfried Schafer, and Gregory De Grauwe in January 2025. The Black Stars face Panama, England, and Croatia in Group L, aiming to progress beyond the group stage after early exits in 2014 and 2022.
