WASSCE Results Delay: WAEC Cites Debt and Technical Issues as Major Obstacles
The West African Examinations Council (WAEC) has announced uncertainty over the release of results for Senior High School students who sat for the West African Senior School Certificate Examination (WASSCE) months ago.
The results, originally scheduled for release today, have been delayed due to unresolved challenges.
John Kapi, WAEC’s Head of Public Affairs, disclosed that the delays stem from two primary issues: a significant debt owed to the exam body by the Ministry of Education and technical difficulties involving the malfunctioning of essential scanning equipment used in processing the results.
He said the scanners are critical for ensuring the accuracy and integrity of the examination results.
John Kapi stated that until the scanners are fixed, they cannot proceed further.
He further emphasized that the organization’s financial constraints, aggravated by the ministry’s outstanding debt, have hindered the timely resolution of these technical challenges.
