Ghanaian cleric Archbishop Duncan Williams has recently received his inaugural nomination for the Ghana Movie Awards. He is recognized in the Cameo Actor category, just ahead of the awards ceremony set to occur on December 24 at the Accra International Conference Centre (AICC).
The Ghana Movie Awards is a significant event in the country’s film industry, honouring exceptional achievements in filmmaking. The nominations include a diverse group of talented actors, actresses, directors, and producers who have made notable contributions to Ghanaian cinema over the past year.
This year, there will be a total of 21 awards presented across categories such as Achievement in Cinematography, Directing, Editing, Costume and Wardrobe, Production Design, and Sound Mixing and Editing, among others. Notable categories also include Achievement in Writing (Original or Adapted Screenplay), Best Short Film, Best Documentary, Best Movie African Collaboration, Best Picture, and the Cameo Actor award.
In the competitive Actor in a Leading Role category, nominees include Kwadwo Nkansah, Lilwin, James Gardiner, Adjetey Anang, Anthony Woode, and Jeffery Nortey. For the Actress in a Leading Role category, contenders are Nadia Buari, Jackie Appiah, Bless Fortune, Nana Ama McBrown, Emelia Brobbey, and Habiba Sinare.
The Actor in a Supporting Role nominees comprises John Dumelo, Kofi Adjorlolor, Van Vicker, Majid Michel, and Clement Bonney (Mr Beautiful). Meanwhile, the Actress in a Supporting Role category features Sonia Ibrahim, Roselyn Ngissah, Sandra Ababio, Christabel Ekeh, Tracy Boakye, Kalsoume Sinare, Maame Ofosuah Anim, Sika Dzuali, and Chichi Neblett.
Additionally, Rosemond Brown (Akuapim Poloo), Frank Ntiamoah, Mawena Azumah, Martina Dwamena (Asantewaa), Sherita Adu, Quesh, and Augustina Aboabo are up for the Discovery of the Year award.
Phred Nuamah, the CEO of the Ghana Movie Awards, promises that this year’s ceremony will be an unforgettable evening filled with glamour, entertainment, and a celebration of excellence in Ghanaian filmmaking. “We’re pulling out all the stops to make this year’s Ghana Movie Awards an extraordinary celebration of our cinema. The dress code is strictly formal: tuxedos and Kente for men, and evening gowns for women,” he stated.
The Ghana Movie Awards were launched in 2010, with the inaugural event taking place on December 25 at the Accra International Conference Centre (AICC).
