GFL Secretary General Commends NDC’s Strategic Victory in 2024 Elections – (AUDIO)

Abraham Koomson, Secretary General of the Ghana Federation of Labour (GFL), has praised the National Democratic Congress (NDC) for their proactive and effective strategies to counter electoral malpractice, which he believes were pivotal in securing their victory in the 2024 elections.

Speaking on Ahotor FM’s Yepe Ahunu program with host Nana Dogbe, Mr. Koomson stated that the NDC’s vigilance exposed and neutralized long-standing tactics allegedly used by the New Patriotic Party (NPP) to manipulate election outcomes.

“The NPP has never won a free and fair election in Ghana,” Mr. Koomson declared. “This year, their practice of swapping genuine ballots with thumb-printed ones was uncovered and stopped. We must applaud Joseph Yamin, whose efforts, supported by DSP Kofi Boakye, helped expose and foil these plans.”

Role of Key Individuals

Mr. Koomson highlighted the instrumental role of DSP Kofi Boakye in the Ashanti Region, describing him as a deterrent to attempts at electoral malpractice.

“Kofi Boakye’s presence alone was a significant threat to the NPP’s plans in the Ashanti Region. This is why Bernard Antwi Boasiako, also known as Wontumi, resorted to insulting him,” he added.

Team Effort Behind the Victory

The GFL Secretary General attributed the NDC’s triumph to a collective effort led by John Mahama and Professor Jane Naana Opoku-Agyemang together with all executives both past and present. He praised their resilience and strategic leadership.

“Kudos to John Mahama, Professor Jane Naana Opoku-Agyemang, and the entire NDC leadership for ensuring that the NPP’s so-called ‘two million votes tactic’ was rendered ineffective,” he said.

Mr. Koomson emphasized that this victory was not just for the party but for the Ghanaian people, who, he said, had endured years of poor governance and economic mismanagement.

Environmental and Spiritual Advocacy

In a surprising twist, Mr. Koomson claimed that the NPP’s defeat was influenced by both environmental and spiritual factors.

He criticized the NPP for its destructive illegal mining activities, which he said had angered spiritual entities.

“The angels, the clergy, and even the demons joined forces to oppose the NPP for destroying their habitats. Illegal mining activities have polluted water bodies and destroyed lands, and the gods could no longer tolerate it,” he remarked.

Media Recognition

Mr. Koomson called on the incoming NDC government to acknowledge and support media houses that stood with them in the face of intimidation and sabotage.

He specifically mentioned Ahotor FM, Power FM, Radio Gold and XYZ as key players in advocating for the NDC’s cause.

“Stations like Ahotor FM, Power FM, and XYZ must be given special recognition. Ahotor FM, in particular, faced significant sabotage for speaking truth to power,” he stated.

Restoring Hope and Accountability

The GFL Secretary General expressed hope that the NDC’s victory would restore faith among Ghanaians and serve as a warning to those who contributed to the nation’s hardships.

“Those who inflicted suffering on Ghanaians will face the consequences. How could they let our elderly citizens picket daily just to claim their rightful pensions?” he asked.

He also reflected on John Mahama’s statement in 2016, where the former president predicted that prosperity would vindicate his leadership.

“John Mahama said prosperity would judge his work, and indeed, it has. The NPP’s poor governance has validated his words,” he noted.

A Message to the Youth

Mr. Koomson urged the youth to remain vigilant and protect their future by ensuring that the NPP does not return to power.

“The youth must never allow the NPP near power again. They have ruined the country and jeopardized your future,” he said.

Moving Forward

As the NDC prepares to govern, Mr. Koomson called on the party to use this victory as an opportunity to focus on national development and deliver on their promises to Ghanaians.

“The weaknesses of the NPP have been exposed. The NDC must not be complacent but instead use this opportunity to develop the country and meet the needs of the people,” he concluded.
