The United States has charged Ghana’s security forces to investigate the pockets of violence associated with the December 7 general elections resulting in deaths.
Some fanatics of the National Democratic Congress, following their leader’s victory in the elections, resorted to violence, destroying State and private properties as well as looting food and other relief items.
Some persons, also during the elections, sustained gunshot injuries and others lost their lives as a result of some violent confrontations.
The US, in a statement released on its official website, has extended their condolences to the bereaved families but asked for thorough investigations into the incidents.
“We are aware of reports of isolated incidents of violence and at least four confirmed deaths. The United States extends our condolences to the families of those killed and urges a full investigation and accountability.”
