The National Communications Officer of the NDC, Sammy Gyamfi, has highlighted the party’s commitment to revitalizing Ghana’s creative arts sector. In a recent appearance on United Showbiz, he reviewed the NDC’s previous achievements in this area and expressed optimism that, if given another chance to lead, they would introduce significant changes.
Gyamfi proposed the introduction of the Ghana Film and Awards Night, aimed at boosting the Ghanaian film industry.
Additionally, the NDC plans to launch the Black Star Experience, a month-long celebration designed to showcase Ghanaian culture, promote pan-Africanism, and strengthen ties with the diaspora.
He explained, “The Black Star Experience will highlight our national culture while acting as a catalyst for pan-Africanism, particularly at a time when the creative arts industry has faced considerable challenges.”
He also voiced concern over the struggles facing Ghana’s creative arts sector, emphasizing the urgent need for revitalization and support for artists, including actors, musicians, and comedians. Gyamfi stressed that government intervention is crucial to fully harness the country’s abundant talent.
Among the NDC’s plans is the establishment of a Creative Arts Fund, which will be integrated into the national budget to provide necessary financial backing for the sector.
Gyamfi noted that this initiative aims to ensure that no talent goes to waste, stating, “We cannot afford to let our talents be overlooked.”
