The Member of Parliament for North Tongu, Hon. Samuel Okudzeto Ablakwa, has emphasized that President-elect John Dramani Mahama is poised to fulfill a series of promises aimed at alleviating the economic burden on Ghanaians.
He noted that these pledges require parliamentary approval, which is why the Ghanaian electorate has significantly increased the representation of the National Democratic Congress (NDC) in Parliament.
Hon. Ablakwa explained that the enhanced presence of the NDC in the legislature reflects the people’s mandate to address critical issues such as the removal of controversial taxes. “The E-Levy will be scrapped, the Betting Tax will be eliminated, the Emission Levy will be abolished, and the COVID-19 Levy will no longer burden the people,” he stated.
He further asserted that the NDC’s parliamentary strength ensures that even if the Minority faces challenges or resistance in Parliament, the will of the people will prevail.
“The electorate has spoken clearly. They have given us the mandate to push for these changes, and we are committed to delivering on them. Whether the Minority is present or absent, the numbers will work in favor of the people,” Hon. Ablakwa assured.
He concluded by urging the citizenry to remain hopeful and vigilant, as the NDC is determined to fulfill its promises and restore economic relief to Ghanaians.
