John Mahama Promises Development, Debunks NPP Propaganda, and Advocates for Inclusive Policies

John Dramani Mahama, the Presidential Candidate of the National Democratic Congress (NDC), has confidently declared that the NDC has superior policies to propel Ghana’s development.

Speaking during a rally at Obuasi East as part of his Ashanti Regional tour, Mr. Mahama highlighted his party’s commitment to addressing the pressing needs of Ghanaians and called for a decisive rejection of the ruling New Patriotic Party (NPP) in the upcoming elections.

NDC’s Vision for Development

John Mahama expressed optimism about the NDC’s chances of winning the election, assuring the crowd that his administration would prioritize development projects that directly benefit communities.

“The NDC has better policies to help our country develop,” he began, his voice ringing with conviction. “In Obuasi East, we will establish a branch of our proposed Women’s Development Bank to support traders and entrepreneurs. Additionally, we will set up a technical vocational school in this area to advance education and provide practical skills for our youth.”

The announcement was met with cheers as John Mahama outlined his party’s vision for a more inclusive and equitable Ghana.

Rejecting the NPP and Vote Buying

He criticized the NPP’s governance, accusing them of neglecting development and resorting to vote-buying during elections. He urged the crowd to reject the NPP at the polls.

“The NPP doesn’t understand development. All they do is wait until election day to buy votes. I encourage you to take whatever money they offer—it’s your money—but vote wisely. Vote for the NDC, the party that truly prioritizes your welfare,” he stated to applause and laughter.

Support for People with Disabilities

John Mahama emphasized the NDC’s commitment to inclusivity, particularly for people with disabilities (PWDs).

He promised free tuition for PWDs who qualify for university or teacher training colleges and pledged to ensure the proper allocation of the District Assemblies Common Fund for PWDs.

“The District Assemblies Common Fund allocates 3% for people with disabilities, but the current government has failed to pay it consistently. Under an NDC government, we will ensure this money is paid promptly to support PWDs,” he assured.

Free Tertiary Education Initiatives

John Mahama also announced a significant policy to ease the financial burden on students and their families.

He pledged free first-year tuition for all students admitted into tertiary institutions, colleges of education, or nursing schools.

“Our goal is to ensure that education remains accessible to all, especially at the tertiary level. Every Ghanaian who gains admission will enjoy free tuition for their first year under an NDC government,” Mahama declared, drawing loud cheers from the crowd.

Debunking Free SHS Propaganda

Addressing misinformation, Mr. Mahama categorically refuted claims by the NPP that the NDC intends to cancel the Free Senior High School (Free SHS) policy if elected.

“The NPP has no real campaign message, so they’ve resorted to lies and propaganda. Let me make this clear: the NDC will not cancel Free SHS. Instead, we will enhance it to ensure quality and sustainability,” he said firmly.

He accused the NPP of using fear tactics to distract Ghanaians from their governance failures.

“Their campaign has no substance. They are spreading falsehoods because they’ve run out of ideas. But the truth is, we will make Free SHS better, not abolish it,” he reiterated.

A Call for Change

John Mahama concluded his speech by calling on Ghanaians to embrace the change the NDC represents.

He urged the crowd to vote for a government that prioritizes the welfare of its people, fosters inclusivity, and drives development.

“This election is a turning point for Ghana. Let’s choose progress, fairness, and real solutions. Vote for the NDC, the party that cares about you and your future,” he concluded, amid loud cheers from the energized audience.

With promises of targeted development, support for education, and inclusivity, John Mahama’s campaign continues to resonate with many Ghanaians eager for change.
