What is your benefit for supporting NPP – Asiedu Nketiah asked Dome Kwabenya constituents

National Chairman of the National Democratic Congress (NDC), Johnson Asiedu Nketiah, has questioned the constituents of Taifa in the Dome Kwabenya constituency about the tangible benefits they have derived from their consistent support for the governing New Patriotic Party (NPP).

Speaking during his three-day tour of the Greater Accra Region, Mr. Asiedu Nketiah highlighted the need for change, pointing out that even the Ashanti Region, widely regarded as the NPP’s stronghold, is showing signs of a shift ahead of the 2024 general elections. He encouraged the people of Taifa to reflect on their allegiance to the NPP and consider whether it has translated into real development and improved livelihoods in their community.

“If even the Ashanti Region, which has long been the backbone of the NPP, is voting for change, what is stopping the people of Taifa from doing the same? What have you truly gained from all these years of supporting the NPP?” he asked.

Mr. Asiedu Nketiah expressed optimism about the growing support for the NDC in Taifa, a community that once presented challenges for the party. He recalled how, in years past, NDC members couldn’t openly campaign or even wear party apparel in the area. However, he noted that the situation has changed significantly, with the NDC now able to hold rallies and engage the electorate freely.

He urged the constituents to vote massively for NDC flagbearer John Dramani Mahama and the party’s parliamentary candidate, Elikplim Akurugu. He assured them that the NDC remains committed to delivering tangible development, citing the party’s track record in Dome Kwabenya and across the country.

“The NDC has always prioritized development and inclusivity. A vote for John Mahama and Honorable Elikplim Akurugu is a vote for progress, fairness, and better opportunities for all,” he said.

Ms. Akurugu, who accompanied the Chairman on the tour, reiterated her vision for Dome Kwabenya, emphasizing her plans to transform the constituency through innovative policies and programs. She highlighted the NDC’s flagship initiatives, such as the 24-hour economy, free apprenticeship programs, and the Women’s Bank, which she said would directly benefit the people of Taifa and beyond.

As the 2024 elections approach, the NDC continues to rally support in traditionally NPP-leaning areas, making a strong case for change and a return to power to address pressing issues such as unemployment, high living costs, and inadequate infrastructure.
