Afram Plains to get fully-fledged College of Education – John Mahama

Former President John Dramani Mahama, the Presidential Candidate of the National Democratic Congress (NDC), has pledged to upgrade a proposed E-Block secondary school in the Afram Plains region into a fully-fledged College of Education.

This commitment, he believes, will significantly enhance educational opportunities in the area and contribute to long-term development.

Speaking at a mini durbar in Donkorkrom during his #Mahama4Change2024 campaign tour of the Eastern Region, Mr. Mahama emphasized the transformative impact a College of Education would have on the Afram Plains.

“The establishment of a College of Education here will not only uplift the standard of education but also empower the local community with access to quality teacher training and employment opportunities,” he stated.

Expressing concern over what he described as the “neglect and stagnation” of development in Afram Plains North under the current New Patriotic Party (NPP) administration, Mr. Mahama assured residents of a more inclusive and progressive approach to governance.

“Our people deserve better. Under an NDC government, we will prioritize projects that bring development directly to your doorsteps,” he assured the crowd.

He outlined several ambitious policies his government would implement to alleviate poverty and improve livelihoods.

These include the 24-hour Economy Policy, which aims to create around-the-clock economic activities to boost productivity and job creation, and the establishment of a Women’s Development Bank to empower women entrepreneurs and small business owners.

Mr. Mahama reaffirmed his party’s commitment to delivering impactful developmental projects, addressing inequalities, and uplifting underserved communities like Afram Plains.

“Together, we can build a better Ghana where no region is left behind,” he concluded, drawing applause from the enthusiastic audience.
