Chief of Staff Osei-Opare Dismisses Expired Rice Allegations as Political Propaganda.
Chief of Staff Akosua Frema Osei-Opare has dismissed allegations surrounding the distribution of expired rice to Senior High Schools as baseless propaganda.
Responding to claims made by Member of Parliament Samuel Okudzeto Ablakwa, she urged the public to treat the issue with skepticism and avoid being misled by politically motivated narratives.
Speaking at a press briefing, Mrs. Osei-Opare reiterated the government’s commitment to ensuring the safety and quality of food supplied to educational institutions.
She emphasized that stringent measures are in place to prevent the distribution of expired or substandard food items, describing the allegations as an attempt to tarnish the image of the government’s education policies.
“The claims made by Mr. Ablakwa are nothing more than propaganda aimed at stirring unnecessary controversy. This government has always prioritized the health and well-being of our students, and any concerns about food quality are taken seriously and investigated thoroughly,” she stated.
The Chief of Staff also called on stakeholders to seek clarity and verify facts before making public accusations.
She highlighted the importance of constructive dialogue in addressing issues within the education sector rather than resorting to what she described as “political sensationalism.”
Meanwhile, education advocacy groups, including Africa Education Watch, have called for independent investigations into the matter to ensure transparency and accountability.
The allegations have sparked a national debate, with some calling for improved oversight in food distribution systems to prevent potential risks to students’ health.
