Hollywood icon Denzel Washington is set to join the cast of ‘Black Panther 3’ as he continues to contemplate retirement.
Recognised for his roles in films like The Equalizer, Washington recently disclosed his participation in the upcoming Marvel film during an interview on the ‘Today Show Australia.’ He expressed, “I’m only interested in working with the best. I don’t know how many more films I can make.
Probably not that many.” In discussing his future projects before possibly stepping back from acting, Denzel shared: “I played Othello at 22, and now I’m taking on Othello again at 70. After that, I’ll be portraying Hannibal. I’ve also been in talks with Steve McQueen about a new film. Ryan Coogler is writing a role for me in the next Black Panther. Following that, I’ll do Othello again, and then I’ll take on King Lear before I retire.”
The original Black Panther, released in 2018, was based on Marvel Comics and featured the late Chadwick Boseman.
The film’s ensemble cast included Michael B. Jordan, Lupita Nyong’o, Danai Gurira, Martin Freeman, Daniel Kaluuya, Letitia Wright, and Winston Duke. Following Boseman’s passing, the sequel, Black Panther: Wakanda Forever, premiered in 2022.
