The Vice Presidential candidate of the National Democratic Congress (NDC), Prof. Jane Naana Opoku-Agyemang, has embarked on a campaign tour of the North East Region, where she engaged with chiefs, party supporters, and residents to share the NDC’s vision for the country.
Addressing a gathering in Bunkpurugu, former National Chairman of the NDC, Dr. Samuel Ofosu Ampofo, who accompanied her on the tour, criticized the governing New Patriotic Party (NPP) for its claims of significant road infrastructure development.
According to Dr. Ofosu Ampofo, the NPP has boasted about constructing 12,000 kilometers of roads across the country.
However, he questioned the veracity of this claim, urging the people of the region to assess how much of this development has benefited the North East Region, which is home to Vice President Dr. Mahamudu Bawumia.
Dr. Ofosu Ampofo expressed disappointment, stating that despite being the Vice President’s home region, the North East has seen minimal improvement in road infrastructure. He accused Dr. Bawumia of neglecting his own people, leaving them with poor roads and inadequate development.
He also commended the residents for their unwavering support for the NDC, emphasizing that the party’s growing popularity in the region was evident even in what he described as “the backyard” of the Vice President. Dr. Ofosu Ampofo assured the people that the NDC is poised to win not only the parliamentary seat in Bunkpurugu but also other constituencies in the North East Region.
Prof. Jane Naana Opoku-Agyemang’s tour forms part of the NDC’s broader campaign strategy to connect with Ghanaians at the grassroots level and highlight the party’s commitment to addressing the developmental challenges facing various regions across the country.
