Vacant seat controversy: let’s stop this childishness – Okudzeto blast Afenyo Markins

Hon. Samuel Okudzeto Ablakwa, MP for North Tongu, has criticized his colleague, Hon. Alexander Afenyo-Markin, the MP for Effutu and NPP caucus leader, for what he describes as “childish behavior” over the ongoing controversies in parliament.

Ablakwa questioned why MPs cannot sit together responsibly to address critical issues, particularly the vacant seat controversy, instead of resorting to blame and tension.

Ablakwa further remarked that he doubts the former majority leader, Hon. Osei Kyei-Mensah-Bonsu, would have handled the situation in the same manner.

He indicated that other NPP MPs, such as Hon. Joseph Osei Owusu and Hon. Andy Appiah-Kubi, are also dissatisfied with the current dynamics in parliament.

In an interview, Ablakwa stressed that the focus should be on more pressing issues, such as the high unemployment rate affecting many Ghanaians due to governance challenges.

He questioned how the ongoing parliamentary impasse contributes to solving the country’s unemployment crisis, urging NPP leadership to shift their priorities toward addressing the nation’s real needs.
